Power of Small - Pop Up Exhibition
Salina Art Center, July 29th - September 27th, 2026
History & Purpose
The Salina Art Center invites artists to submit work for an upcoming Pop-Up Exhibition. These exhibitions are designed to expand opportunities for local and regional artists while exploring focused curatorial concepts. Both emerging and established artists are encouraged to participate, offering their unique interpretations of a shared theme.
Power of Small challenges artists to demonstrate the impact of work created on an intimate scale. In contrast to the large-scale works featured in the Mountain Plains Biennial opening May 22, this exhibition celebrates the strength, precision, and presence of small-format art.
All submitted works must be smaller than 5 x 7 inches. Whether the size of a postage stamp or a greeting card, artists are invited to experiment across mediums, surfaces, and techniques to create pieces that are small in scale but powerful in effect. This exhibition asks viewers to step closer—to slow down, look carefully, and discover the depth, detail, and intention contained within each work.
We welcome submissions in all media, including painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and mixed media, as long as they adhere to the size limitation. Works should demonstrate thoughtful composition, technical skill, and a strong sense of intention within the confined format.
