At the Salina Art Center, we believe contemporary art, film, and creative experiences help people better understand life and each other. Through exhibitions, arts education, free community programming, and independent cinema, we create meaningful exchanges among art, artists, and audiences that strengthen our community.
We are seeking a dynamic, organized, and self-motivated Advancement Officer who is excited about building relationships, cultivating philanthropy, and helping shape the future of one of Kansas’ most innovative arts organizations.
This is not a position for someone who waits to be told what to do. We are looking for a creative thinker and strategic doer — someone who can identify opportunities, develop plans, follow through with precision, and collaborate with a passionate team to meet ambitious goals.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment, pays close attention to detail, communicates exceptionally well, and understands that successful fundraising is rooted in authentic relationships, trust, and storytelling.
About the Role
The Advancement Officer provides leadership in the implementation and management of portions of SAC’s annual development plan, including:
Membership programs
Sponsorship development
Special events and donor experiences
Cultivation and stewardship activities
This position works closely with the Executive Director to develop, strengthen, and maintain relationships with existing and prospective donors, sponsors, members, and community partners and works collaboratively with staff, board members, volunteers, artists, and community stakeholders to advance the mission of the Salina Art Center.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in planning and implementing annual fundraising strategies and campaigns
Manage membership recruitment, retention, and stewardship efforts
Cultivate sponsorship relationships with businesses and community partners
Coordinate donor communications, acknowledgements, and relationship tracking
Support fundraising events, exhibitions, cinema initiatives, and special programs
Identify opportunities for new revenue streams and donor engagement
Track progress toward fundraising and membership goals with strong follow-through and accountability
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will possess:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience preferred
3–5 years of nonprofit development or related experience preferred
Understanding of fundraising principles and donor cultivation practices
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Confidence working independently while also collaborating as part of a team
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a creative and energetic environment
Ability to think strategically, adapt quickly, and problem-solve independently
A genuine enthusiasm for contemporary art, film, education, and community engagement
Ability to articulate SAC’s mission and impact to diverse audiences
Grant writing experience helpful, but not required
Why This Position Matters
The Advancement Officer plays an important role in helping the Salina Art Center continue offering meaningful arts experiences to our region. We are looking for someone who understands that fundraising is ultimately about relationships, trust, creativity, and helping people connect to something larger than themselves.
Compensation & Opportunity
$14–$17.50/hour based on experience and demonstrated success
