“Joining the Peace Corps” is sometimes treated as a punchline, a way of poking fun at idealistic, slightly naïve college graduates looking to “make a difference.” But after watching this fast-paced, partly-nostalgic documentary about the formation and goals of the Peace Corps, it’s hard not to get swept up in the excitement, adventure, and activist spirit the movie has for its subject. We learn exactly what the Peace Corps does and what it’s achieved over the past 59 years; the movie’s passion is infectious, and truly restores one’s faith in humanity.
