Salina, Kan (October 28, 2019) Salina Art Center Cinema, 150 S Santa Fe, presents EXHIBITION ON SCREEN with an unprecedented look at Leonardo Da Vinci, part of the global celebration marking the 500th anniversary of the artist’s death. Leonardo: The Works will show Friday, Nov. 1, 3 p.m., to kick off November’s First Friday events in historic downtown Salina, with an encore showing Saturday, Nov. 2 at 11 a.m. All tickets are $6

Leonardo’s peerless paintings will be at the core of Leonardo: The Works, with every single painting attributed to the artist captured in staggering high-definition detail. The film also looks at Leonardo’s life through the prism of his art, threading together biography and artistic output of one of the greatest minds in history, with the assistance of the world’s foremost curators, critics, and historians speaking candidly with great knowledge and humor.

The documentary gives unparalleled access to Leonardo’s masterpieces and cinema-goers will marvel at The Last Supper, Lady with an Ermine, Ginevra de Benci, Madonna Litta, and Virgin of the Rocks. The film also offers privileged access to the Mona Lisa, shown in extraordinary detail, as well as the two Leonardos side-by-side at the Hermitage in St. Petersburg — a genuine feast for the eyes.

Award-winning writer and director Phil Grabsky travelled to 8 countries to film all of Leonardo’s work, and included the much-discussed Salvator Mundi, which the film firmly believes is a Leonardo work, the little-known Salle delle Asse (his largest work), the recently restored Adoration of the Magi, and also the recently completed conservation work of Lansdowne Madonna.

EXHIBITION ON SCREEN is an opportunity to bring the best art exhibitions in the world to our community through film. The Cinema has previously shown EXHIBITION ON SCREEN on Picasso, American Impressionists, Monet, Matisse, Hockney, and Van Gogh.
