 What is “On the Ball?”

On the Ball is a FUNdraiser for the Salina Art Center Endowment. Each March, Salina Art Center invites artists to creatively transform a basketball into a work of art.

The embellished and altered basketballs, along with the name(s) of the artist(s) are displayed in the Education Wing in March and at the Match Madness event at Salina Field House (Hosted by the Greater Salina Community Foundation) on March 21 from 7am-7pm. Anyone can vote on the artfully transformed balls by making a donation towards their favorite ball. Every dollar counts as a vote in this race to the final four. The top two money-making balls will be awarded cash prizes!

Why participate?

The goal of the Salina Art Center Endowment is to ensure a legacy of high quality arts education and programming at Salina Art Center. By growing the endowment, the Art Center has a sustainable budget to provide scholarships that reduce the financial barrier to high quality art experiences as well as secure salary for high quality teaching artists far into the future.

  • $30 in funds can provide a scholarship to a child for After School Studio (6 hours of instruction)
