This class will give students a chance to learn about a variety of different animals, using the US Endangered Species Act as a guide for our investigations. Students will learn a variety of ceramic techniques through a series of projects including: designing and creating ceramic tiles, building 3-D animal sculptures, and learning glazing and surface techniques like stenciling and a historic scratching process called sgrafitto. In addition to the ceramic techniques, we will talk about using art and design as a means to investigate, educate and communicate. Ages 14-19. Casey will have open studios at the Art Center Warehouse Tuesday-Friday, 6-8 p.m., July 24 – 27. Register here.
