SALINA, KANSAS – The Salina Art Center, in partnership with City of Salina Parks and Recreation, is excited to announce its annual series of weekly art classes, SummerART 2009, “Real” BIG Art.  Registration begins Monday, May 4, through the Salina Parks and Recreation Department.

SummerART, a series of classes taught by professional artists and art educators, will take place June 16 – July 24, Tuesday through Friday each week.  All classes, offered to students preschool through adult, are held at the Salina Art Center, 242 S. Santa Fe, Salina, Kansas.

The theme for SummerART 2009, “Real” BIG Art, is inspired by the work of the Salina Art Center’s artist-in-residence and exhibition artist, Jason Peters, who will be living in Salina and creating work at the SAC Warehouse, from May 4 – July 24.  In conjunction with his residency, Peters will be creating work for his SAC exhibition, Open And as Pointed as Possible, on view in the galleries from June 5 – August 16, 2009.
