Salina Art Center welcomes Artist-in-Residence:  Jeff Schmuki

Salina, Kansas – In conjunction with its Artist-in-Residence program, the Salina Art Center is excited to welcome artist-in-residence Jeff Schmuki to the Art Center Warehouse, 149 S. 4th Street, Salina, Kansas.  Schmuki will be living in Salina and working at the Warehouse from February 15 through April 11, 2009.

Open Studio Hours at the Warehouse
Tuesdays, noon – 3:00 pm
Thursdays, 5:00 – 7:00 pm
(except February 26 and March 5, 12 & 26)

Stop by the Warehouse to visit with the artist and see his work in
progress during open studio hours.

Sustainability is the focus of Jeff Schmuki’s current work and that which he will be focusing on during his Salina Art Center residency. When Hurricane Katrina destroyed his home and studio in Gulfport, many of his works were lost in the storm. Schmuki, an interdisciplinary artist, spent the following year and a half as an artist-in-residence at various venues throughout the country. He is motivated by concerns about the detrimental results of unbridled consumption, resource depletion, and insensitive development.
