The Salina Art Center announces the opening of Snapshots: Lives in Transition, in the galleries December 5, 2008 through January 4, 2009.

Snapshots: Lives in Transition
is a project designed to give students from Opportunity Now Education Center the opportunity to explore, to express, and to share their lives through photography, text, and other media. Guest artists Ruth Moritz and Robin Ginther, along with the Salina Art Center Curator of Education Ann Marie Kriss, worked with students during the fall semester to create artwork and writings, some of which will appear in this culminating community exhibition.

One goal of Snapshots: Lives in Transition is to introduce students to contemporary photography by allowing them to photograph their lives. Another goal is to encourage individual expression and self-exploration through photography, writing and multimedia art pieces. In addition, this project provides students with an experience where they can learn from local artists. Snapshots also provides an opportunity for individuals in the community to develop a better understanding and appreciation of their lives, insights and talents.

Funding for Snapshots was provided in part by the Community Health Investment Program of the Salina Regional Health Foundation and the Salina Regional Health Center.
