Manhattan Shorts Film Festival at Art Center Cinema

For the second year, patrons of the Salina Art Center Cinema will have a unique opportunity to savor the artistic visions of new, up-and-coming film makers using the short film format in the Manhattan Shorts Film Festival playing at the Cinema September 14th through 20th.  These 10-15 minute films often contain more humor, horror, pathos, insight, wit, and visual poetry than many full-length films do in two hours.

The Manhattan Shorts Film Festival is opening its 2006 competition to the viewing public in limited venues across the United States, including Salina. Over 480 short filmmakers from a record 39 countries entered this year’s Festival. The films of the twelve finalists will screen 190 times in 72 cities in 14 countries over the ten days between September 14th and 24th.

Audiences not only get to see a series of short films but also participate in the actual judging.  Evaluation cards are provided in the theater, and every vote counts. Winners will be announced after the last screening in New York City on Sunday, September 24th. Join the celebration and pick your own favorites from this year’s Manhattan Shorts Film Festival!
