Kansas City artist Barry Anderson will create a new video work entitled Always Becoming Something (3)  as the debut artist of the Salina Art Center’s two-year New Media Project. This single-channel projected video will feature a cross-section of the Salina community to be filmed in August 2008. Always Becoming Something (3) will be one in a series of videos which first began during an artist residence at Light Work in 2006 at Syracuse University, and is planned for later sites in Austin, Kansas City, and Munich, Germany. Within a constant loop, Anderson’s video will be composed of multiple figures that slowly pass by in a constant, steady stream. His mesmerizing video will allow the viewer to observe each person’s psychological state evoking a sense of meditation and contemplative reflection on universal themes of identity and transformation. Organized by the Salina Art Center
