Each of Watkin’s works on paper begins with an out-of-date roadmap. Roads are replaced with streams or clogged with flowering vines, coastlines are flooded, inland seas rehydrated. Erosion, water, and overgrown plant life have replaced humanity as the determining force on the land. Watercycle is based on two works on paper, one an imaginary piece of architecture drawn several years ago and the other a map of Kansas filled with waterways that was completed in 2005.
