McCarthy’s work is titled “Spilling of Life.” After working in ceramic sculpture and silk screen printing for a decade, McCarthy turned to photography in 1987. Her photographs are largely focused on women’s bodies, and her work often explores motherhood and aging. She works in poly-toned black and white photography. McCarthy was born in Glen Cove, N.Y., and has lived in Peru since 1973.
