Chongs group of work is titled Memories in Exile. His photographs of ancestors examine physical memory and act as a record of those who have lived. His work which pictures his relatives responds in part to the fact that few images of black people exist in historical collections of photographs. His photographs are large chromogenic color prints. Chong was born in Kingston, Jamaica, of African and Chinese ancestry. He has exhibited his work nationally and internationally since 1981. He teaches at the University of Colorado.
